Descripción:2,2,5,5-Tetramethyloxolane is a solvent that is used in analytical methods. It reacts with nucleophiles (such as trifluoromethanesulfonic acid) to form alcohols and ketones. The reaction requires an activation energy of 36.7 kJ/mol but the energies are dependent on the solute and temperature. 2,2,5,5-Tetramethyloxolane has been shown to be a good solid catalyst for reactions involving aromatic hydrocarbons and other molecules. This solvent can be used for dehydration reactions that occur at temperatures of less than or equal to 300°C.
