Tantalum is a metal that is used in the manufacture of medical devices. It has been shown to have a potential for pharmacological treatment of diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Tantalum can be found in the form of tantalum pentoxide, which is produced from zirconium oxide. Tantalum has been shown to inhibit oxidative injury by blocking the formation of reactive oxygen species and reducing lipid peroxidation. This metal has also been found to have a therapeutic effect on DNA template stability and structural analysis.
