Teasterone is a plant hormone that belongs to the group of fatty acid derivatives. It has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against protein synthesis and cell division in prostate cancer cells. Teasterone inhibits the activity of matrix metalloproteinases, which are responsible for degrading collagen, and may therefore be used to treat coronary heart diseases. The inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by teasterone also leads to an increase in diacylglycerol production, which is a lipid used in cell signaling.
