Tafenoquine succinate binds to the mitochondrial membrane potential, which prevents the accumulation of proton gradients across the inner mitochondrial membrane. Tafenoquine succinate also inhibits nuclear DNA replication and bacterial growth by preventing the transcription of rRNA, leading to inhibition of protein synthesis and cell division.
