4-(Trifluoromethylthio)phenylacetic acid is an allergen that has been found to cause allergic contact dermatitis in humans. This chemical is a skin sensitizer and will cause an allergic reaction in individuals who are sensitive to it. 4-(Trifluoromethylthio)phenylacetic acid can be used as a diagnostic tool for the detection of eosinophils in the blood, sputum, or other body fluids. It can also be used to test for allergic diseases by measuring the amount of activated eosinophils present in a sample.
