1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-isoquinoline-4-ol is a stereoisomer of the enantiomer of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-4-ol. It is also known as isoquinoline alkaloid. The compound is an amine and has been shown to be synthesized in vivo by the enzyme diamine oxidase. This experiment was performed on rat liver microsomes and was used to study the relationship between stereoselectivity and control experiments with amines. It was found that 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-4-ol exhibits a higher level of asymmetric synthesis than 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-4-ol.
