Descripción:Thiobutabarbital is a long-acting barbiturate. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cardiac, bowel and blood diseases. Thiobutabarbital can be used for the prevention of cardiac arrhythmia and as an adjuvant therapy for congestive heart failure. Thiobutabarbital has been shown to have a positive effect on energy metabolism and has a long-term efficacy. This drug is also used in experimental models to study mitochondrial membrane potential, where it inhibits cyclase activity. Thiobutabarbital is also used as an intravenous anaesthetic. It has been shown to reduce the incidence of myocardial infarct and diabetic neuropathy when administered chronically orally or intravenously.
