Descripción

Triclabendazole is a drug that is used to treat parasitic worm infections. It has been shown to have a toxic effect on the liver in rats. Triclabendazole has been used in vitro to demonstrate its ability to inhibit the energy metabolism of the parasite, preventing it from reproducing and spreading. This drug has also been shown to be effective as an anthelmintic drug against nematodes and cestodes. The compound binds to the drug transporter proteins, which prevents their interaction with other molecules and results in reduced uptake by cells. In vivo studies in mice have shown that triclabendazole can cause liver lesions, but this is not seen when administered orally or topically. Triclabendazole has also been shown to be effective against parasites that are resistant to other drugs, such as metronidazole and albendazole.
