Descripción

Trifluorolactic acid is a chiral compound that can be found as two optical isomers. It can be used in analytical methods to determine the concentration of platelets, and it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on human platelets. Trifluorolactic acid is also used for the synthesis of benzyl alcohols and other derivatizing agents. Trifluorolactic acid can be synthesized from phenylglycinol or from an ethyl ester of trifluoroacetic acid. This compound has an orthorhombic crystal structure with a diastereomeric ratio of 1:1.
