L-Tryptophanamide hydrochloride also has an anxiolytic effect on mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of serotonin at synapses by blocking the enzyme tryptophan hydroxylase. The drug is used for the treatment of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
