• Descripción: 5,6,7,8-Tetrahydro-2-naphthol is a synthetic estrogen that is an analog of estrone sulfate. It has been shown to be an estrogen agonist and can bind to the estrogen receptor. The binding of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-naphthol to the receptor causes an increase in the production of proteins that regulate cell growth. This compound also has a hydroxy group and a hydrogen bond at the C3 position. The oxidation products of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-naphthol are unknown but it is thought that they are less reactive than other estrogens because it does not undergo conjugation with glucuronic acid. 5,6,7,8-Tetrahydro-2-naphthol has been shown in animal studies to have estrogenic activity and may be used as a treatment
