Descripción:Trichloroacetyl chloride is an oxidation catalyst that is used for the synthesis of organic compounds. It is particularly useful in the synthesis of 2-chloropropane from chloropropane and sodium chloride in a reaction solution containing water vapor and hydrogen fluoride. Trichloroacetyl chloride has been shown to be an effective antimicrobial agent against a number of bacterial strains, including Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This compound also has antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Streptococcus pneumoniae. The mechanism of action is not fully understood but may involve the release of chlorine gas and oxidation by oxygen radicals.
