This synthesis reaction yields (2,3,4-trifluoro)benzoic acid as the main product and a small amount of 2,3-dihydrobenzoic acid. The analytical method used to determine the purity of this compound is LC-MS/MS. The vibrational spectrum of this compound has been found to show strong absorption in the UV region at 290 nm.
