• Descripción: 5-(Trifluoromethyl)indole is an indole derivative that binds to both orthosteric and allosteric sites of the 5-HT receptor, which is a G protein-coupled receptor. The affinity of 5-(Trifluoromethyl)indole for the 5-HT receptor is approximately 10 times greater than for other receptors, making it a potent ligand. This compound has been shown to inhibit colitis in mice by binding to the 5-HT3 receptor and inhibiting calcium ion influx. It also inhibits deuterolysis and catalysis in cells at high concentrations. Research on this drug has shown that it can be used as an endogenous ligand for the 5-HT3 receptor, but its activity is not as potent as when it is used as a ligand.
