Descripción:Theophylline sodium glycinate is an alkanoic acid that is used in the treatment of chronic diseases, such as asthma and bronchitis. It is administered orally and has a slow-release effect. Theophylline is usually administered together with divalproex sodium to treat seizures and mania. Theophylline may bind to adenosine receptors, which are implicated in the regulation of sleep, arousal, and blood pressure. Theophylline may also inhibit phosphodiesterase activity, which increases levels of cyclic AMP (cAMP). This increase in cAMP leads to relaxation of smooth muscle cells in blood vessels and airways.
