Descripción:1,4,5,8-Tetrachloroanthraquinone is a chlorinated aromatic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro. This compound is an effective inhibitor of the production of reactive oxygen species from nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide. It also inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to their cell membranes. 1,4,5,8-Tetrachloroanthraquinone binds to the carboxylate and functional groups on the surface of cancer cells and changes the conformation of their cell membrane proteins. The structural analysis revealed that this compound contains cycloalkyl groups with chlorine substituents on each ring. Immobilized 1,4,5,8-tetrachloroanthraquinone has been shown to be an effective agent against denitrification in soil samples containing nitrate.
