Trisodium glycyrrhizinate is poorly absorbed by the body, which may be due to its high molecular weight and low water solubility. The bioavailability of trisodium glycyrrhizinate can be increased significantly by using it with a film-forming polymer or diphenyl ether. This product is found in various foods such as ganoderma lucidum (a Chinese herbal medicine) and some types of licorice candy.
