The 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoxaline reacts with dopamine to form an alkyl group at the 3 position. This compound has been shown to be effective in treating cardiovascular diseases such as congestive heart failure and high blood pressure. 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinoxaline also binds to receptors on cells involved in inflammatory diseases and autoimmune diseases. 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinoxaline can be used for the treatment of these conditions because it inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β by inhibiting the activity of NF-κB.
