Z-D-threonine is an amino acid that is produced by the condensation of two molecules of glycine. It is a cyclized form of L-threonine and is the epimer of L-threonine. Z-D-threonine has been shown to be synthesized by a synthase enzyme and can react with other amino acids in an intramolecular cycloaddition reaction. This amino acid also forms hydrogen bonds with its neighboring amino acids to stabilize its secondary structure, which may be due to intramolecular hydrogen bonding.
