Descripción

Tetraacetylethylenediamine is a model system that has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria. It has an inhibitory dose of 0.2 mg/L, and it can be used as a wastewater treatment agent. Tetraacetylethylenediamine inhibits bacterial growth by reacting with nitrogen atoms in the cell wall and forming an inorganic acid that destroys the cell membrane. This compound also has high antibacterial efficacy against various surface-associated bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli.
