Descripción:
(S)-(p-Toluenesulfinyl)ferrocene is an organometallic reagent that can be used for the modification of esters. This compound has been shown to undergo a Grignard reaction with ester groups from carboxylic acids and alcohols in the presence of organic bases such as dimethyl, diethylzinc, or malonate. The resulting ferrocenyl esters are useful substrates for various modifications and expansions, including alkylation, acylation, and phosphorylation. (S)-(p-Toluenesulfinyl)ferrocene is also an important ligand in asymmetric synthesis. It is planar and can bind to both free chiral carbonyl compounds and enantiomerically pure metal complexes.
