2-(Trifluoromethyl)phenylacetic acid is a fatty acid that is synthesized in the rat liver. It can be used as a substrate for chemical derivatization, or to produce esters and other derivatives. 2-(Trifluoromethyl)phenylacetic acid has been shown to have stereoisomers and isomers, as well as different derivatizations, such as hydroxy groups and fatty acids. 2-(Trifluoromethyl)phenylacetic acid can also be used for the determination of racemization in biological samples. Gas chromatography is an analytical technique that uses a column of stationary phase material with mobile phase (gas or liquid) flowing through it. This technique separates compounds based on their boiling points, allowing them to be identified by their retention time on the column.
