Descripción

2',3,4-Trihydroxychalcone is a polymerase chain inhibitor that inhibits the transcription of DNA by binding to the RNA polymerase. It has shown cytotoxic and antibacterial properties in vitro. 2',3,4-Trihydroxychalcone also induces apoptosis by inhibiting protein synthesis through changes in subcellular localization and translocation of proteins from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This compound may have potential for use as an anticancer agent because it inhibits tumour cell growth in vitro and has been shown to produce antitumor effects in vivo. 2',3,4-Trihydroxychalcone also inhibits lipid peroxidation and has been shown to inhibit oxidases at high concentrations.
