• Descripción: 2,3,4-Trichloro-5-fluorobenzoic chloride (TCFB) is a sulfuryl chloride that is used as a herbicide. TCFB is hydrolyzed by carboxylates in the soil to form formic acid and hydrochloric acid. The hydrolysis of TCFB makes it selective for the roots of plants. TCFB can also be chlorinated to regenerate the acid and then recycled. Hydrolyzing TCFB allows it to be selectively applied on plant roots without affecting any other part of the plant. The presence of chlorine in this compound allows for its use as an insecticide and fumigant.
