Descripción

3,4,5-Triiodobenzoic acid is a mesomeric molecule that has regulatory effects on root formation. It is an inhibitor of the transport of calcium ions and thereby inhibits the uptake of calcium by plant cells. 3,4,5-Triiodobenzoic acid also prevents the formation of intermolecular hydrogen bonds and molecular electrostatic potentials in biological studies. In addition, it has been shown to have a pH optimum of 6.0 and vibrational frequencies at 157 cm-1. This compound is used as a radiopaque contrast agent for X-ray imaging in muscle tissue.
