2,3,4,5-Tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine is a drug that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of depression. It is an antihypertensive agent that inhibits the release of nitric oxide from vascular tissues and thus exerts its effect on blood pressure regulation. This drug also has a high affinity for serotonin 5-HT2C receptors and has been shown to inhibit the binding of dopamine D3 receptors in animal studies. 2,3,4,5-Tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine is structurally related to other drugs such as amitriptyline and clomipramine and may have similar clinical effects.
