2,4,6-Triisopropylbenzoic acid is a hydrogen-bonding ancillary that stabilizes metal ion complexes. It has been used extensively in electrochemical studies to investigate the effects of different functional groups on proton and electron transfer. This compound has also been shown to be a useful reagent for oxidizing carboxylic acids. 2,4,6-Triisopropylbenzoic acid can be synthesized by reacting 3,5-diisopropylsalicylic acid with methylene chloride and triethyl orthoformate. The resulting product is 2,4,6-triisopropylbenzoic acid.
