Tetrapropylammonium bromide is a glycol ether surfactant that has been used in many industrial and household applications. It is used in the production of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, detergents, and textiles. Tetrapropylammonium bromide has a high thermal expansion coefficient and can be used as a fluorescence probe for measuring the pH of a solution. In addition, it functions as an inhibitor of dpp-iv enzymes and human pathogens by binding to their nucleic acids. Tetrapropylammonium bromide has also been shown to exhibit transport properties similar to fatty acid surfactants.
