Tetraphenylsilane is a chemical compound that is used to synthesize other organic compounds. It has a reactive C-Si bond, which can be used as a substrate film in the synthesis of organic compounds. Tetraphenylsilane contains two sulfur atoms and one oxygen atom. This compound reacts with light to produce chemiluminescence and has an electron configuration of [ns]2[np]3[p]. Tetraphenylsilane is also soluble in polar solvents such as water and has a redox potential of +0.07 V. The reactivity of tetraphenylsilane can be changed by changing the substituents on its molecule, for example by adding an hydroxyl group to the molecule.
