9-Trifluoroacetylanthracene (9FAT) is a palladium complex that is used as a catalyst to form carbon-carbon bonds. It has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the amidation of phenyl groups, the hydroxylation of naphthalenes, and intramolecular hydrogenation. 9FAT has also been shown to catalyze the benzylic hydroxylation and the coupling of carbonyl groups with hydroxyl groups. 9FAT can also be used in homogeneous catalysis due to its low energy and optical properties. This compound's photophysical and nmr spectra are also reported in this article.
