2,3,4-Trifluoro-N-Hydroxyaniline is an aromatic hydroxylation product of 2,3,4-trifluoroaniline. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in rat liver microsomes and in the presence of serum albumin. 2,3,4-Trifluoro-N-Hydroxyaniline binds to glutathione and forms a covalent bond with cellular proteins. This binding inhibits cellular functions by preventing protein synthesis and DNA replication. The drug also has an electrophilic character that makes it highly reactive with nucleophiles such as cysteine thiolates or thiol groups on proteins or DNA bases.
