2,5,6-Trifluoro-4(1H)-pyrimidinone (TFAP) is an aniline that has a heteroaromatic ring. It has been shown to localise in the lungs of rats and monkeys following inhalation exposure. TFAP is thermally unstable and undergoes rearrangements at high temperatures. TFAP also reacts with allyl groups to form 2,5,6-trichloro-4-(1H)-pyrimidinones. This chemical can be used as a precursor for the synthesis of polycyclic compounds. TFAP can be prepared by reacting phenol with trifluoroacetic acid and then reacting it with ethyl chloroformate.
