Trifluoroacetohydrazide (TFAH) is an arylamine that induces apoptosis. It is activated by chlorinating to form 2,2,2-trifluoro-N'-phenylacetohydrazide (TFAP), which reacts with retinoic acid in the presence of pyridine to form TFAP-retinoate. The TFAP-retinoate can then be used as a reagent to induce apoptosis in cancer cells.
