Tetrakis(4-fluorophenyl)borate sodium (1:1) is a solid that is soluble in organic solvents. It has been used as an adsorbent for nuclear waste and organic molecules. Tetrakis(4-fluorophenyl)borate sodium (1:1) has been shown to adsorb hydrophobic molecules such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which are difficult to remove from the environment. Tetrakis(4-fluorophenyl)borate sodium (1:1) can be prepared by reacting tetraphenylborate with 4-fluoroboric acid.
