4,4,4-Trifluoro-1-(pyridine-3-yl)butane-1,3-dione is a trivalent trifluoromethyl compound that has been shown to have magnetic properties. It is an electron acceptor and has been demonstrated to interact with divalent metal ions such as Cu2+, Ni2+, and Co2+. The magnetic properties of 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(pyridine-3-yl)butane-1,3-dione are attributed to the presence of the trifluoromethyl groups.
