3-(Trifluoromethyl)-S-Triazolo[3,4-a]Isoquinoline is a phenylbutazone derivative that is used as an anti-inflammatory agent. It has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin, leukotrienes, and histamine. 3-(Trifluoromethyl)-S-Triazolo[3,4-a]Isoquinoline has been found to be an effective treatment for viruses that are sensitive to its effects. 3-(Trifluoromethyl)-S-Triazolo[3,4-a]Isoquinoline is a competitive inhibitor of catechol O methyltransferase (COMT) and prevents the conversion of catecholamines into their inactive metabolites. This inhibition has been shown to have antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1).
