4-(Trifluoromethyl)styrene is a pro-inflammatory chemical that has been shown to increase the production of cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6. 4-(Trifluoromethyl)styrene is an electron-deficient molecule that can undergo nucleophilic attack by nucleophiles such as ethyl diazoacetate. 4-(Trifluoromethyl)styrene can also be oxidized by oxidation catalysts such as fluorine to form epoxides, which are useful intermediates in organic synthesis. The reaction intermediates of 4-(Trifluoromethyl)styrene are electrochemically active, which makes it a useful starting material for the synthesis of other compounds.
