Descripción:Tri(3-fluorophenyl)phosphine is a gas sensor that can be used to detect aldehydes in the atmosphere. It is synthesized from 3-fluorophenylphosphine and hexacarbonyl nickel in the presence of a base. The product is insoluble in organic solvents, which makes it suitable for gas sensing applications. Tri(3-fluorophenyl)phosphine has also shown to be selective for monosubstituted aldehydes and was used to study their reactivity. This compound has been shown to have an enhanced response when exposed to light, which may be due to its ability to form an excited state.
