Viniferol D is a polyphenol that is found in red wine. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, which converts acetaldehyde to acetic acid. Viniferol D has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo, and also inhibits the mutagenicity of carcinogens. Viniferol D also has cholinergic effects on the body, including contractility of the gastrointestinal tract and stimulation of liver cells, as well as anti-inflammatory properties. Viniferol D also has a protective effect against oxidative stress and long-term exposure to alcohol.
