Descripción

Vitamin A palmitate is a fat-soluble vitamin that is used to treat and prevent vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A palmitate is not water soluble, so it must be given intravenously or orally with a fatty meal. It has been shown to have antioxidant properties, which may be due to the reaction of the molecule with reactive oxygen species. The use of this vitamin in an experimental model has shown that it can increase the matrix effect and reduce oxidative injury. Vitamin A palmitate has also been shown to have a protective effect on the myocardium following an infarct, as well as reducing toxicity studies in mice.
