Vinylbenzyl chloride is a chemical compound that is stabilized with TBC (tetrabutyl-carboxylic acid). It is used in the manufacture of polyvinylpyrrolidone and other polymers. Vinylbenzyl chloride reacts with hydrochloric acid to form hydrogen chloride gas. This gas can be used in the production of chlorinated solvents such as vinyl chloride, which is used in the manufacture of PVC. Vinylbenzyl chloride also has reactive properties, which have been shown by kinetic data and surface methodology. The particle size distribution has been shown to be dependent on the concentration of vinylbenzyl chloride and the type of solvent used. Vinylbenzyl chloride also has transport properties that depend on the temperature and pressure of the environment it is exposed to.
