2-Vinyl-4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine is a light exposure stabilizer that has been shown to be effective in preventing photodegradation of polymers. It does this by forming stable complexes with the polymer and reducing the amount of free radicals that form when photosensitive materials are exposed to light. 2-Vinyl-4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine also functions as a crosslinking agent for polymers. It can be used to crosslink polymers by forming hydrogen bonds between monocarboxylic acids and hydroxyl groups on the polymer backbone. This crosslinking reduces the mobility of polymer chains in response to shear stress and increases their resistance to mechanical degradation.
