Descripción:4-Vinylbenzyl alcohol is a chlorine-containing organic compound that is used as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals. It is also used as a solvent, plasticizer, and stabilizer. 4-Vinylbenzyl alcohol has been found to be an effective inhibitor of the human liver cytochrome P450 enzyme system. The reaction product with chloride ions forms a stable complex that inhibits the enzyme's active site. This inhibition prevents the conversion of drugs such as acetaminophen (paracetamol) into toxic metabolites.
