Descripción

Wogonin is a natural product that inhibits the activity of bcl-2, an inhibitory protein, and degrades the dna in cancer cells. It has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation by inhibiting DNA synthesis and intercalation. Wogonin is also known to have anti-inflammatory properties. This compound has been shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme activity and prostaglandin synthesis in vitro. In vivo studies have demonstrated that wogonin can reduce myocardial infarct size following reperfusion injury in rats. Wogonin has also been shown to inhibit COX-1, which may be related to its antiplatelet aggregation effects and inhibition of platelet aggregation.
