Descripción:Wieland-Miescher ketone is a compound that is used in the synthesis of Taxol, an anticancer drug. This compound reacts with an enolate to form a cyclic product. The reaction is catalyzed by acid and proceeds via aldol cyclization. The kinetic of this reaction has been studied by NMR spectroscopy and it was found that the rate of the reaction depended on the steric interactions between the reactants. Wieland-Miescher ketone is also used in asymmetric synthesis, as it can be used to generate enantiopure products. This can be done by using trifluoroacetic acid as a solvent and adding chloride ions to change the polarity of the solution, which will affect how the molecules interact with each other.
