Descripción:Zidebactam is a new inorganic acid that is used as an antimicrobial agent. It is effective against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including Stenotrophomonas maltophilia and Enterobacter cloacae. Zidebactam binds to the penicillin-binding protein (PBP) in bacterial cell walls by competitive inhibition, which prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Zidebactam has been shown to be active against P. aeruginosa in clinical studies. Zidebactam has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in vitro and in vivo with good tolerance in animal models.
