Descripción

Zearalenone is a mycotoxin that can be found in cereal grains, such as wheat and barley, and is produced by the fungi Fusarium graminearum and F. culmorum. The effects of zearalenone on humans are not well understood, but it has been shown to cause genotoxic activity in certain cell lines. Zearalenone has also been shown to affect toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) expression and TLR4-mediated signaling pathways in some cells. Chemical inhibitors of zearalenone include coumarin derivatives that inhibit the plant metabolism of zearalenone into toxic metabolites.
