4,4'-(Ethane-1,2-diylbis(oxy))dianiline is a compound that can be used as an electrochemical probe for the study of chloride ion adsorption on a gold electrode. This compound has been shown to reversibly undergo oxidation in a cyclic voltammetry experiment. The rate of oxidation depends on the concentration of chloride ions and the potential applied to the electrode.
