It has been shown to have carcinogenic effects on the rat kidney and liver in animals. 2,4-Diaminoanisole sulfate hydrate inhibits protein synthesis by interfering with the enzyme system. It also inhibits acetylation of amines, which can lead to cancer. 2,4-Diaminoanisole sulfate hydrate has shown inhibitory effects on p-450 enzymes and is an inducer of other enzymes in the liver microsomes of rats.
