It has an inhibitory effect on the chemical reaction between glycol esters and polyvinyl chloride, resulting in an increase in particle size and viscosity. Monobutyl Itaconate has been shown to be effective for the production of polycarboxylic acid, which can be used as a cross-linking agent for polymers. Monobutyl Itaconate also has high solubility in acidic environments such as hydrochloric acid.
